Gender sensitization of university students – future teachers

The requirement of equal treatment between men and women is one of the priorities of the European Union. The problem of gender equality within the Hungarian minority in Slovakia has not been discussed in the media and does not appear in societal debates, in education or in other community activities. The Slovak education system currently supports gender inequality. The main objective of the project is therefore to increase awareness, knowledge and education of students at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra – future teachers of primary and secondary schools with Hungarian as teaching language in gender issues and gender sensitization. To maximize the impact of the project students should meet with the topic outside of formal education as well. Their extracurricular activities concentrate in student clubs connected by the association Diákhálózat – Student Network. Public discussions with students are therefore planned in their framework.
